A few years ago, DC Comics landed what everyone at the time seemed to think was a real coup: Stan Lee, the creator of Marvel's best known characters, briefly defecting in order to reimagine DC's best known characters as if Lee himself had created them. It was called Just Imagine Stan Lee..., as in, Just Imagine Stan Lee Creating Superman or Just Imagine Stan Lee Creating Green Lantern.Like I said, at the time, everyone was pretty jazzed about it, but then again, people were also jazzed about Coke Clear at first, and look how that turned out. The end result of the Stan Lee project was...well, out of respect for the guy and all he's accomplished, we'll just go with "less than impressive."
So now he's back, and doing a show on the Sci-Fi Channel called, "Who Wants To Be A Superhero?" Contestants (presumably a combination of comic book geeks, unemployed actors/models, and random famewhores) will create their own hero and go through a series of challenges as their made up persona. The winner, by way of compensation for going on national television and completely humiliating themselves for years to come, will get to have Lee create a comic about their superhero.
I wish I could say I was too highbrow to watch this, but sadly, it's right up my alley.
